Something should be said about solitude.
Whether you make the choice to spend more time alone or it is forced upon you – one thing is for sure, you enter that space as one person and become a more thoughtful being after some time.
It seems that serving time at Huntercombe, a men’s category “C” prison in Oxfordshire, has changed Boris Becker.
A former Wimbledon champ and world number one tennis player, the 54-year-old has lost a great deal of weight due to his fitness training and strict diet, almost as if he is preparing to compete in the Huntercombe Prison Open.
The sportsman has been working alongside the prison’s fitness coach and psychologist in order to stay in shape. Not only that but Becker has felt the need to be more philanthropic and instruct fellow inmates into their prime form, too.
According to The Guardian, the athlete is teaching about 45 fellow inmates in fitness, enlightening them about nutrition as well as crisis management.
The prison is said to have a sports complex that features a climbing wall, an astroturf pitch, and a cardiovascular fitness room, so he’s pretty sorted.
What’s more, the tennis veteran is leading special meditations and yoga sessions, according to a source. These calming practices have become a hit and made him quite popular at Hunterscombe Men’s Prison:
“As a sportsman, he knows only too well the highs and lows of victories and defeats. He is sharing his life experience with his fellow prisoners.”
It said that Becker is connected to a bonus programme, which awards extra privileges to prisoners. Suppose the man still enjoys competing for a prize, after all, it’s in his blood.
Before Becker became a wellness teacher, the former athlete was jailed by the Southwark crown court. It is reported that he was sentenced to five years under the Insolvency Act for hiding assets worth millions of pounds after being made bankrupt in June 2017.
Who knew that playing games with the financial system would lead him down a path to mental and physical wellness?
Most of all, who would have thought that Boris Becker would become a health and wellness shaman?
