Elvis Presley is the epitome of showmanship.
He was when he was alive, and he still is even after 45 years, living on through our screens in myriad forms.
Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is one gleaming example.
The movie was loaded with so many unbelievable moments that you almost had to sit there with a list as you were watching to keep track.

Unfortunately, Elvis had a full-time personal physician on call to prescribe all the meds he needed. In many ways Dr Nick hastened the King’s downfall by irresponsibly prescribing him addictive narcotics and tranquilisers for years:
In 1970, after treating Elvis sporadically for a few years, Nichopoulos was brought on formally to supply the King and his entourage with everything from sleeping pills to painkillers. Elvis was found unconscious on the floor of his master suite bathroom on August 16, 1977. He passed away at the age of 42.
He did go down with a ton under his belt, including 108 Billboard Hot 100 hits, 129 charted albums, and 67 collective weeks at the top of the charts on his record.
