Adriana Chechik has found success and a following in two vastly different spheres.
She’s an adult movie star who has won a number of AVN Awards, as well as a gamer who streams her exploits on Twitch to a sizeable following.
It’s the latter career that we’ll explore here (you’re welcome to go down the other route in your own time) with a closer look at her failed dive into a foam pit live at TwitchCon, a gaming convention in San Diego, on Saturday.
This via Gizmodo:
Chechik happily jumps into the pit but then begins to writhe in pain almost immediately after she lands.
…the foam pit was not set up and did not belong to Twitch, but rather part of a booth from Lenovo, which was promoting its Legion series of gaming PCs…
The pit was full of foam blocks that, while a bit squishy, were quite firm…
Worse still, when you pull back the foam blocks, a thin mat was the only protection offered from the concrete floor.
A back injury is painful at the best of times, let alone on a live stream:

Chechik first confirmed the injury via her adult film star Twitter account:
Well, I broke my back in two places and am getting surgery to put a meter rod in for support today. Send your support. When it rains it pours and I am definitely feeling the rain right now.

She later made light of the injury on her gaming Twitter account:
Me on stream next month… ahaha pic.twitter.com/ZbxuyMBu4e

Lenovo communications officer Lisa Marie Ferrell stressed that safety was a top priority and they’re investigating the incident.
Chechik may struggle to pin legal liability on Lenovo given that Lenovo had some participants sign waivers acknowledging the possibility of physical harm or damage to their property.
It’s unclear whether Chechik signed such a waiver but she clearly isn’t happy with the organisers:
Why did @LenovoLegion say here, you can dive in? They open the pit up a second day after the 1st person injured their foot and ankle bad enough to leave #twitchcon in a brace. Multiple ppl wer injured and they kept the pit open, said jump in booty first! https://t.co/9JaQnsiq7n

At least one other attendee reported injuries from diving into the foam pit.
Once you tick over the other side of 30, I guess any physical exertion carries the risk of injury.
