Some people spend hours scrolling through Instagram and Facebook, and I can relate to the joy of judging other people.
My weakness, when I remember that I still don’t have a foot in the property game, is rifling through listings to see how (if) I can start that journey.
I’ll go off the deep end from time to time (Higgovale R48 million, I’m trying to manifest you) but usually it’s the lower end of the market.
The reality is that for R1,5 million, you can’t get much in an area like Sea Point these days. Even by those standards, this listing stands head and shoulders above the rest.
CapeTalk describes the ‘0,5-bedroom apartment / flat’ as a “hokkie” and it’s tough not to disagree. On Property24, any potential selling point is talked up:
Studio apartment and garage combined at a total of 63m2, in addition you will have 1 parking bay outside the garage.
Conveniently located – within easy walking distance to the Sea Point Promenade, shops and restaurants.
On MyCiti bus route. Secure block.
Someone tell them that Sea Point just cracked a spot on Time Out’s list of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods to add a little zing to that blurb.
Let’s take a tour:
Tour done.
I must give props for the cheetah bedding and the Muhammad Ali poster visible in the image right up top.
Here’s the block you’d be calling home:
As much as we can poke fun at this being worth a cool R1,5 million, it’s not that out of touch with what we’ve seen in and around the Sea Point area.
In July we covered a few 0,5-bedroom listings going for more than that, although they were perhaps a touch more well-kept than the above.
Coupled with the steady increase in rental prices around the CBD, it’s a tough time to try and get your foot in the door.
