Yesterday, a woman died in an early morning shark attack in Plettenberg Bay.

The victim was not named in the original reports but we now know it was Kimon “Kiki” Bisogno who lost her life.

Tributes have poured in for the 39-year-old mother of one (some reports state she was 38) and co-owner of a pizzeria in Observatory, Cape Town.

NGO Ndifuna Ukwazi praised her efforts in caring for members of the Observatory community, reports TimesLIVE:

The yoga practitioner was a volunteer civic activist helping the Observatory community. The organisation said she helped found the Obs Pasta Kitchen, serving homemade pasta to homeless people once a week. This month it celebrated five years in operation.

She also helped the Rainbow House, a long-term housing programme for people who used to live on the street.

Bisogno co-owned Ferdinando’s Pizza with her partner Diego Milesi (pictured with her above). The two met on holiday in Ibiza 13 years ago.

According to a report from last month, the pizzeria is named after their dog which “patrols the premises keeping an eye on things”.

Carlos Mesquita, who was once homeless and went on to become the founder of Our House and Rainbow House in Observatory, called Bisogno “the kindest, most giving and selfless person I have ever met”:

“Kimon and I met through our shared passion for the homeless. I’m blessed to have experienced her light over these past few years,” Mesquita said…

“She plain and simply loved. That’s what Kimon [above] lived, did and was: love. The rest just followed. She truly led by example and I’m so grateful for all we shared.”

This is the second fatal shark attack in Plett in the past three months and the third since 2011.

Portfolio manager and long-distance swimmer Bruce Wolov was attacked and killed at Sanctuary Beach, on the Robberg side of Robberg 5, in late June.
