Finding parking near a popular beach in Cape Town can be a nightmare.
You know the sun’s out where you are, and you’re pretty certain it’s going to be a great day for the brolly and beach towels.
Do you really want to brave the drive to Clifton Fourth Beach, and the fight for parking, without being sure the conditions are ripe for some tanning?
Fear not, friends of the Atlantic Seaboard and beyond, because Skyline Webcams has a live stream from Clifton Fourth.
There’s the added bonus of some palm trees in the foreground so you can judge the wind speed, too:
Eye up a stretch of sand left open, hop in the car, and hotfoot it to the beach.
We don’t need a description of an area Capetonians know all too well. I do like hearing what people have to say so here’s the live-stream write-up:
At the northwestern end of South Africa’s Cape Peninsula lies the joyous coastal gem of Clifton Beach, a haven for hipsters and international jet-setters. Clifton is actually a series of four beaches, each separated by a stretch of granite boulders. With this Cape Town webcam, you’ll spot Clifton 4th, the most popular part of the entire area.
The beach is wide and clean, reflecting the bright African sun with crystal clear waters. There is a distinct atmosphere in Clifton, due in part to the mystique of Table Mountain, which stands out beautifully against the backdrop of the beach and, in part, to the glamorous charm of the surrounding neighborhood.
Is Clifton “a haven for hipsters”? I always thought that was more Glen Beach’s vibe, or maybe Llandudno.
Anyway, there you have it – no more trekking to the beach when conditions are kak.
You’re welcome.
