Queen Elizabeth II really, really loved her corgis.
She may have owned hundreds of racehorses and all the unmarked mute swans in open water in England and Wales but those dogs were her pride and joy.
Most of the corgis she owned over the course of her life descended from her first corgi, Susan, who was gifted to her on her 18th birthday
What happens to the Queen’s vast wealth is going to be interesting in the months and years to come. As for the corgis, they’re headed to a man whose name will always be intertwined with that of Jeffrey Epstein.
Town & Country Magazine below:
…her two dogs will be cared for by Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York.
During lockdown, Prince Andrew gifted his mother Queen Elizabeth two dogs, Muick, a corgi, and Fergus, a dorgi [a corgi dachshund mix]. When Fergus died last May, he was replaced with another corgi, Sandy…
The Queen’s lifelong love for corgis has been well-documented; she has reportedly “my corgis are family.” It makes sense, then, that the dogs will be staying in the family.
That ‘staying in the family’ mention has me recalling that Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II were actually distant cousins.
Oh, have you heard the one about how then-Prince Charles and Diana met?

We move on.
The corgis will live at Royal Lodge with the Duke and Duchess Of York, a source told Harper’s BAZAAR:
“It was the The Duchess who found the puppies which were gifted to Her Majesty by The Duke.”
“The Duchess bonded with Her Majesty over dog walking and riding horses and even after her divorce, she would continue her great friendship with Her Majesty by walking the dogs in Frogmore and chatting,” the source adds.
The late monarch owned more than 30 corgis in her lifetime and they lived lives of luxury and leisure.
Some reports suggest they had their own room in Buckingham Palace, sleeping in elevated wicker baskets with sheets refreshed daily. At mealtime, they would eat dishes including fresh rabbit and beef which were served by a gourmet chef.
We also know they ate dog biscuits which were dangerously similar in appearance to human biscuits.
