It was not a fantastic weekend for South African sports fans.

The Blitzboks were dismal in their Rugby World Cup Sevens quarter-final loss to Ireland, which kicked off after 10:30PM on Saturday in front of a crowd that had waited very patiently.

On Sunday, the side then lost 26-19 to Argentina in their fifth/eighth place playoff to compound the misery, although they did close with a convincing 35-5 win over Samoa to secure a seventh-place finish and give outgoing head coach Neil Powell a winning sendoff.

As for the Proteas against England, it was yet another case of woeful batting. Only bad light stopped us from losing within two days, and we will finish the series with one individual 50 from five completed innings.

The week’s best cricket video, as far as I’m concerned, is one that steers clear of showcasing our own frailties and hones in on the six-hitting prowess of a Queensland grade cricketer.

Clearing the ropes at the Ken Mackay Oval was great for Preston White and his Toombul teammates. The same cannot be said for the neighbours:

Wynnum-Manly’s Joshua Fraser was the bowler, reports The Mirror. The identity of the furious neighbour is unknown.

Is the batsman liable for the damage he caused? Is the cricket club responsible?
