We may never know what really goes on behind the scenes with the British Royal Family. Sources say this, an unnamed friend says that, and the rest of the gaps are filled in with whatever sells.
That being said, there’s no getting around the fact that Prince Harry and Prince William have what can euphemistically be described as a strained relationship.
Harry and Meghan Markle are in the UK for business and have ended up staying in very, very close proximity to William and Kate. You’d think, having travelled halfway across the world, the brothers might stroll across the roughly 500 metres of lawn between Frogmore Cottage (below) and Adelaide Cottage to say howzit.
Reports suggest that hasn’t, and won’t be, happening. This via The Daily Beast:
Prince Harry has reportedly made no effort to reach out to his brother Prince William during his and Meghan’s trip to the U.K. because he is angry at William’s failure to “unpack” his part in the “dark times” Harry and his wife endured before leaving the royal family.
William, meanwhile, is waiting for Harry to apologize for the whole slagging-the-family-off-to-billions-of-people-to-Oprah situation.
This has led to an impasse. Harry believes his brother has some apologising to do, whereas William believes his younger brother committed the ultimate taboo of “snitching on the family to the media”.
It’s also believed that William may be keeping his distance from his brother until after the release of Harry’s memoirs and the Netflix documentary
A report on Page Six, via unnamed ‘palace insiders’, takes things a step further:
…royal employees have gone to great lengths to make sure the four, who famously have a frosty relationship at the moment, don’t run into each other.
“Staff are in hysterics because they literally live a stone’s throw from each other and they don’t get along,” one palace insider [said]…
Chuck in the fact that Royal Lodge (above), where Prince Andrew is laying low in hopes his mom can get everyone to forgive him, is also within walking distance and you have an awkward triangle.
All three properties actually share the estate gardens, meaning that even light strolls “need to be scheduled through private secretaries and security” to ensure nobody bumps into each other.
10 points to whichever staff member walks past the Duke of York with ‘Prince Andrew Is A Sweaty Nonce’ playing loudly enough in their headphones that he can hear it.
