I guess there is enough true-crime drama to go around for everyone.
Even Kim Kardashian.
Besides passionately advocating to keep impossible beauty standards alive (unless you have a heap of money), Kim also likes to advocate for criminal justice reform.
She’s taking things up a notch with a Spotify podcast deal, already confirmed back in 2020, where she hosts a true-crime show called The System.
Podcasts have become the most popular form of content consumption, so it’s no surprise Kim is jumping on the trend.
Kim has reportedly been on a mission to take herself to “another level over the past few years”, per HuffPost, which includes not taking a day off from “studying two hours every day with my professor” to finish law school.
She has also visited the White House to speak about structural issues in the criminal justice system:
“Once I saw how broken the system is, I couldn’t stop,” she said.
“I have to help as many people as I can. These people are thrown away and put in prison and no one cares. It’s so heartbreaking.”
You may remember the time she released a few images of herself studying law.
Last December, she announced that she’d finally passed California’s so-called baby bar exam, which she celebrated on Instagram:

In between, she has also helped fund various campaigns to commute people’s sentences and get them released from prison, like this absolutely heart-wrenching case of a mother on death row.
With motherhood, fashion, cosmetics, skincare, and law on her hands, it’s hard to imagine Kim has time for any other career endeavours, but alas, she seems excited about her podcast:
“The first season is about a really crazy case where a guy got the death sentence for a triple homicide that happened in Ohio,” [the Skims founder told Interview magazine in a piece published Tuesday.]
“There are so many twists and turns with how it was handled ― or mishandled ― and we take the listener along for a journey in search of the truth,” she told the magazine.
It is possible that the first season will focus on Kevin Keith, a former death row inmate who says he was wrongfully convicted in the killing of three people in Ohio:

Kim knows what she’s doing; as much as society laps up anything beautiful, it also tends to gravitate towards the grittier side of life.
As Screen Rant points out, “true crime has always been a popular topic in society”.
If you’re not keen to get your true-crime fill from Kim, you’ll be glad to know there are plenty of other true-crime podcasts to choose from.
