Shane Hawkins has without a doubt made his father, Taylor Hawkins, incredibly proud with his intense drumming set on Saturday.
The 16-year-old unleashed an impressive amount of energy while drumming alongside the Foo Fighters at his father’s tribute concert in London.
The concert was held to honour and celebrate the life of the late rock star drummer who unexpectedly died earlier this year at the age of 50.
The rock band and Shane performed the Foo Fighters’ 1997 classic hit ‘My Hero’ with such soul and heart that you can’t help but feel moved:
Having joined his late father on stage to cover the Rolling Stones’ ‘Miss You’ during a Chevy Metal show in 2018, Shane is no stranger to the spotlight.
Per PEOPLE, the teen also paid tribute to his father by joining local band The Alive to play the drums on ‘My Hero’ during a Laguna Beach block party on July 4.
Something tells me that drumming in place and in honour of his father is incredibly cathartic.
Dave Grohl, Hawkins’ bandmate and longtime best friend, also paid tribute to the late rock star, giving a touching speech during the opening of the concert at the Wembley Arena.
He became rather emotional during a performance of his band’s classic ‘Times Like These’ later on in the concert, too, which you can see from the three-minute mark:
Other celebrities including Elton John, Liam Gallagher, and Paul McCartney were also present to pay their respects.
Hawkins died on March 25 in Bogotá, Colombia, shortly before a scheduled music festival performance.
