Damn it’s good to win a test match against the Ozzies.
Following a remarkable recovery from a near career-ending injury, Nic White and the rest of the Wallabies had momentum on their side heading into Saturday’s clash in Sydney.
They came up against a fired-up Springbok team and, a late try for the home outfit aside, never looked like breaching our defence.
If last week’s mid-match memes focused on White and his pathetic tumble, this time around it was Eben Etzebeth’s crazy eyes which stole the show.
We’ll get to that in a moment. First, though, we’ll enjoy the highlights with the Ozzie commentary to sweeten the deal.
The showdown came moments after Makazole Mapimpi dotted down in the corner. He took the opportunity to let Marika Koroibete know that using arms in the tackle is well-advised and things kicked off.
Congrats to Allan Alaalatoa for realising that throwing a haymaker wouldn’t have ended well for him.
Alaalatoa may want to give our West Coast a wide berth.
While it’s a battle on the field, once the final whistle goes rugby ethos dictates that beers shall be had and battle stories swapped:
Next up for the Springboks is a double-header against Argentina to close out this year’s Rugby Championship.
Winning both would put us in with a good chance of claiming the title, although New Zealand’s 50-point annihilation of Argentina on Saturday sees them currently sitting atop the table.
Before we wrap, here’s one for all the Willie le Roux haters:
Watching back the Boks game, it’s always amazing how much of an influence Willie Le Roux has on the Boks attack.
Smartly jumps in at scrum-half for South Africa’s 1st one here off a quick tap.
