Tom Cruise is laughing all the way to the bank.

No matter what critics say about Top Gun: Maverick (“a stunning feat of US military propaganda”), it’s only further cemented Cruise’s standing as a blockbuster superstar.

There’s also the small matter of his pay. The film has already grossed more than $1,4 billion worldwide, meaning Cruise is looking at a figure north of $100 million.

It’s a tough gig but somebody has to do it.

We knew that the team at Honest Trailers would wade in at some point and here they are, dropping their analysis of Top Gun: Maverick yesterday.

Screen Rant has the details:

[The video] highlights the film’s mindless action, Maverick’s real-life parallels to actor Tom Cruise, and the Star Wars-esque final action sequence… [and] brings to light some of the more amusing and bewildering choices made in the film.

The video isn’t harsh with the commentary, but it definitely pokes fun at the long-awaited sequel…

The narrator also jokingly confuses Cruise and his character Maverick throughout the video due to the heavy-handed similarities the character shares with the actor.

The similarities are a little too glaring to overlook.
