It’s time to whip out your best suit in a primary colour as Google and Microsoft may have a job for you.
At the moment, there are a combined 17 jobs being advertised by the two tech companies in South Africa, per MyBroadband.
Microsoft set up an office in our country in 1997, and 10 years later, Google opened its first offices here.
Both offices are based in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
You know that if you work for Google, you’ll be treated with cool office perks like a canteen and chill zone complete with pinball machines and arcade games.
In 2015, Google moved from shared office space at The Campus in Bryanston to its own dedicated office space, with all the above to boot.
MyBroadband once had a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Google offices in Bryanston if you want to snoop around.
Microsoft’s local offices, too, boast around 500 employees who all have access to a gym, game rooms, and other life-work amenities.
So the jobs…
Google is currently advertising three positions in South Africa: a data centre technician, a strategic negotiator (global network acquisition), and a customer engineer (Google cloud infrastructure modernisation):
All three positions are office based rather than work-from-home, with Google specifying that candidates interested in the data centre technician position must be able to travel internationally up to 50% of the time.
Microsoft is advertising 14 roles in South Africa, the most notable being a principle cloud solution architect and solution area specialist for app innovation roles.
There are a few managerial roles, too.
All the positions will allow the employee to work from home up to 50% of the time with travel required 25 to 50% of the time.
