Joe Rogan has ruled the podcast game for a while now, and who better to knock him from top spot than a woman he’s dragged more than once?
Meghan Markle, ya girl, has gone and done it.
Her new podcast Archetypes is currently Spotify’s most-listened-to podcast in six regions: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
That means it has overtaken the usual frontrunner The Joe Rogan Experience. Six rounds of applause, please.
Not only did Archetypes outpace Joe, but it also proved to be more popular than the third entry on the US Spotify chart, The Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon.
The much-hyped podcast debuted on Tuesday exclusively on Spotify and produced by Meghan and Prince Harry’s Archewell Audio in partnership with Spotify’s Gimlet Media.
The goals of Archetypes sit in contrast to those of Rogan’s, according to Variety:
Archewell Audio first inked the exclusive podcast pact with Spotify in late 2020, with the mission of “producing programming that uplifts and entertains audiences around the world,” as well as “spotlights diverse perspectives and voices” and “builds community through shared experience, narratives and values.”

The first episode features a conversation with tennis powerhouse Serena William about the double standard women face when they are labelled “ambitious”, per Deadline:
On the inaugural episode titled “The Misconceptions of Ambition,” Markle and Williams discussed their youthful ambitions and juggling motherhood and career in the public eye, with Williams also talking about her decision to pivot from tennis toward other ventures.
At one point, Harry “popped in” as Markle described it, with a brief greeting to Williams.
Dr. Laura Kray, a leading expert on gender in the workplace, also makes an audio appearance speaking about the way in which archetypes affect all of us.
In the episode, Meghan recalls an anecdote from 2019, when the couple visited Nyanga township as part of their royal duties.
A fire had broken out in then-four-month-old Archie’s nursery after a heater malfunctioned, and although Archie was not in the room at the time, news of the fire left Markle “shaken”.
