Three against one is anything but a fair fight.
Add in the fact that one of the suspects who entered a smallholding in Kameeldrift West, Tshwane, on Sunday night was armed with a gun, and the other two with knives, and you have an uphill battle.
That didn’t stop a 42-year-old man from fighting back and succeeding in getting the suspects to flee the scene.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello told News24 that the man was in his workshop when the suspects accosted him:
As they enter the workshop, they move to the left and point the firearm at the owner.
Shocked, he raises his hands and then drops to the ground when the armed suspect points his firearm at him. The owner starts pleading with them in Afrikaans.
“Whoa whoa, please please, wait wait, please wait for me,” the owner can be heard saying as two suspects haul him to his feet while a third aims his firearm at him.
Then, for a brief moment, the man breaks free from the grasp of the suspects and manages to grab his firearm from atop a counter.
Fighting fire with fire, he immediately turned the tables:

Sello said the suspects did not take anything and one of the men was believed to have been injured after a “trail of blood” was found on the ground.
A balaclava was also found nearby.
