“Ja, no, hey, with my new iPhone I don’t even need to add filters.”
Then you check their Instagram and yes, they should have added filters.
We can’t all be winners, or even finalists, in the annual iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) but the real fun is in taking the snaps.
For those who land a stunning shot, like Antonio Denti’s ‘The Kid of Mosul’ (shot on an iPhone 11), which won the standalone Photographer of the Year award, there is prestige and financial incentive.
The shot shows “a moment of tenderness in the dusty rubble of war”. More from the awards site:
Chosen from thousands of submissions from all over the world, many of this year’s winning shots depict beauty rising out of isolation and honor photography’s ability to build bridges across lost connections…
Top-three winners in an additional 16 categories were awarded to photographers from almost every corner of the world, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, San Marino, Poland, United Kingdom, United States.
Most of the snaps were taken with models ranging from the iPhone 12 and up, so it definitely helps to have the latest tech at your disposal.
A reminder that you can trade in your old iPhone and other goodies with Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, to secure a huge discount when upgrading.
Let’s run through more of the winners.
