I guess all those videos of Kim Jong Un riding horses into the sunset and, most masculinely, walking away from intercontinental ballistic missiles while wearing shades, leather jackets, and watches, have truly made an impact on North Korean men.

I always wondered who could possibly fall for the hyped-up mucho vibes that these dictators like to dabble in, and I guess it makes sense that it is, to a large extent, other men.

Dare I say it? I say so because a video has just revealed an audience of men crying at the idea of their beloved leader battling a fever.

The footage was shared on North Korean TV, broadcasting Kim Jong Un’s sister making a heated speech for the first time ever.

During a meeting of health officials and researchers in Pyongyang on Wednesday, Kim Yo Jong made her address, revealing that the nation’s dictator had actually been badly affected by COVID-19.

Interestingly, this news came right after Kim Jong Un declared that North Korea had claimed a “shining victory” in its fight against the virus.

The Daily Beast has her speech in English:

“Even though he was seriously ill with a high fever, he could not lie down for a moment thinking about the people he had to take care of until the end in the face of the anti-epidemic war,” Kim Yo Jong said of her brother.

Cue a bunch of male audience members wiping away their tears, perhaps at the thought of nobody else being worthy enough to inspect their country’s production activity:

Kim Yo Jong also threatened “deadly retaliation” against South Korea if they fail to stop propaganda balloons flying over the border.

North Korean authorities have been dubiously blaming these balloons for bringing COVID-19 into their country:

Although, Park Sang-hak, who defected from North Korea to South Korea more than 20 years ago, explained that he began launching balloons to protect the people against the deadly virus:

“People are dying because of COVID in North Korea,” Sang-hak told The Daily Beast. “That’s the top priority. Right now, hundreds of thousands are getting the virus, and thousands are dying every day.”

He had fired off balloons carrying 20 000 masks, 15 000 Tylenol pills, and 30 000 vitamin C pills from a mountainous area near the border with North Korea.

He hasn’t quite yet reached the point of sending leaflets on the evils of the Kim dynasty over, but he might be working himself up for it.

Receiving a balloon carrying the cruel truth would be a reason to cry over Kim Jong Un.
