It is truly remarkable that not a single person was injured after this chaotic plane crash in California.
A small plane came tumbling down in the middle of lunchtime traffic on Tuesday, crashed into a Toyota pickup truck carrying three people, and then burst into flames as it slid across all the highway lanes into an on-ramp.
Jalopnik reported that the incident happened on Freeway 91 just outside of Los Angeles, with pilot Andrew Cho and the other passenger (as well as everyone in the Toyota) walking away following the crash unscathed.
Dashcam footage captured the chaos unfold:
The reaction from the person in this car that caught the drama on camera is priceless:

Apparently, Cho’s single-engine Piper Cherokee experienced an unexpected engine failure during his final approach to Corona Municipal Airport, causing him to crash-land on the busy highway:
“It felt like a hard bump. Hard to describe,” Cho said. “We were four to five feet in the air when the plane stalled completely and fell to the ground.
The pilot credited his training for the successful crash landing. “Your training kicks in and you do the right thing. As long as you don’t panic, you get the best outcome,” Cho said.
We’ve seen a fair amount of successful crash landings in our time, but none quite as dramatic as this one. Cho probably didn’t plan for the plane to burst into flames, but all in all he’s clearly chuffed nobody was harmed.
Here’s another video, featuring a chat with Cho. Did you see the plane wreckage around the 1:20 mark? How the pilot and passenger made it out of there unscathed is anyone’s guess.
