A man in Riverside, California allegedly hijacked an Amazon delivery truck and proceeded to ram it into a couple of other cars while on a high-speed chase from the cops.
Responding to calls of two home-invasion robberies at a mobile home park in Riverside, VICE reported, police managed to locate the stolen van through GPS tracking and trace the thief’s every move.
He shimmied across various highways before law enforcement finally managed to arrest him.
A two-minute aerial-shot video shows a scene fit for the big screen as the truck swerves, dodges, skids, and hops about. For those of a certain age, it’s a little like the frog character in the much-loved 1981 arcade action game Frogger.
At one point, per the police walkie-talkie audio narrating the video, the truck’s “speeds are around 45 miles per hour” – just under 73 kilometres per hour.
Not too speedy, but still reckless as hell:
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Quintin Jarnall Larks from Las Vegas.
He was charged with attempted murder, home invasion robbery, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless evading of police, and suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing injury.
Sheesh, that’s quite a rap sheet.
At least no serious injuries were reported, according to the Riverside Police Department, despite a number of vehicles being severely damaged.
