A warning that the footage below is genuinely horrific and difficult to watch.
Thankfully, there were no deaths but two dancers were injured and one is said to be in a “serious” condition. The other injured dancer is “stable”.
The incident took place last night at a Cantopop concert held at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Mirror, a popular boy band, was performing when the giant video screen that was suspended above the stage crashed to the ground.
The Guardian reports:
Apart from the two performers who were injured onstage, three other female audience members were also reported as injured, police said. One of them felt unwell and was sent to the same hospital in a conscious state, while two others were in a state of shock but required no medical treatment.
Following the incident, the concert was halted and audience members were asked to leave the venue.
Footage of the screen landing on top of one of the dancers has been widely shared on social media:

Hong Kong officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway, reports DW:
In a statement on Thursday night, Hong Kong’s culture minister Kevin Yeung said Mirror’s remaining performances at the prestigious venue would be suspended until the structure was proven to be safe.
Several injuries had already been reported at the boy band’s prior concerts and rehearsals. Earlier this week, an online petition calling for the organizers to ensure the performers’ safety garnered more than 13,000 signatures.
The 12-member boy band Mirror has skyrocketed in popularity in recent months and is credited with reviving Cantopop, a genre of pop music written in standard Chinese and sung in Cantonese.
Hopefully, the dancer whose condition is deemed “serious” makes a full recovery.
