Last week, bombshell news broke regarding a domestic violence-related protection order filed against Ricky Martin by his 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez.
Reports further alleged that the nephew claimed he dated Martin for seven months before breaking the relationship off. Over the course of the next two months, the nephew alleged the singer ignored the order and returned to his house a number of times.
Martin immediately denied the allegations and a lawyer on his behalf stated that Sanchez “is struggling with deep mental health challenges”.
Yesterday, the singer scored a major legal victory when the case was dismissed in a Puerto Rican court. NewsAU reports:
“The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter,” lawyers Joaquín Monserrate Matienzo, Carmelo Dávila and Harry Massanet Pastrana said in a joint statement.
“The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case. This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them.”
After the decision was handed down, Martin released a video statement explaining his initial silence and asking his nephew to find help so he can lead “a new life filled with love and truth and joy”:
Jwan Yosef, Martin’s husband of five years, sent out a simple message on Instagram:

Martin is still facing one legal headache, however, reports PEOPLE:
…his ex-manager Rebecca Drucker sued the singer for more than $3 million in unpaid commissions, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE that were filed with the Los Angeles Central District Court on June 29.
The 15-page complaint claimed that Drucker helped Martin through “recording contracts, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional endeavors,” adding, “With Rebecca at his side, Martin made millions of dollars and therefore owes Rebecca substantial commissions.”
On that front, Martin’s reps declined to comment.
