Before Archie was born in May 2019, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were left stunned when an unnamed member of the Royal Family asked what colour their child’s skin would be.
That revelation came out during the couple’s bombshell March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Later on, a “well-placed source” revealed in Christopher Andersen’s book – Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan – that Prince Charles had been the one to question the complexion of Harry and Meghan’s future children.
But actually, as Meghan had said in that Oprah interview, there were “several conversations” had in and around the palace about their future child’s skin and hair.
In a new book grabbing headlines in the UK – Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors – author Tom Bower suggests that Camilla Parker Bowles might have also contributed to the Sussexes turning against the royal family and fleeing to the US.
Page Six has the damning segment:
Bower goes on to write that Camilla allegedly made a “racist” remark about what Meghan and Harry’s future child’s hair would look like, sometime after their relationship became public.
“During those weeks, Harry met Charles and Camilla at Clarence House. In Harry’s version, the conversation alternated between serious and joking and touched three topics,” Bower writes in an excerpt…
“First, Harry was told that Meghan should continue with her acting career. Second, Scotland Yard could not automatically be expected to pay for his girlfriend’s 24-hour protection. And third, according to Harry, someone speculated about what his future child would ‘look like.’ In one version, Camilla remarked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if your child had ginger Afro hair?’”
Harry had apparently laughed the comment off at first, but “Meghan’s reaction to that conversation turned Harry’s amusement into fury”.
The book also claims Harry’s friends texted one another that he “must be f—ing nuts” for dating Meghan after they spent a weekend with her back in 2016.
Bower predicts that Harry’s memoir, expected this fall and ghost-written by American journalist J.R. Moehringer, will call Camilla out on her racism.
