Although Pokemon Go’s initial honeymoon period seems to be over, Niantic’s augmented reality masterpiece is still one of the most popular mobile games around at the moment. While it had 166 million active users in 2020, the game is said to have a player base of around 81.2 million monthly active users in 2022. Given its augmented reality offering that enables people to explore outdoor environments as they take down gyms and fill up their Pokédex, its appeal is entirely understandable. 

Minecraft: Pocket Edition

Yet another product from an alternative category of gaming that is now thriving on mobile, Minecraft: Pocket Edition is extremely popular on both iOS and Android. The sandbox survival game is a phenomenon, particularly with younger audiences, although older gamers are now being enticed by the game’s all-round offering, particularly on mobile. As such, Minecraft: Pocket Edition has 173.5 million active average monthly players, with almost 16 million daily active players. While it’s perhaps lacking in some areas compared to its PC counterpart, Minecraft is evidently still worth sampling on a mobile phone. 

Among Us 

The second most popular game in the world at the moment behind the aforementioned PUBG Mobile, Among Us is an online multiplayer game that tasks players with rumbling the killer on a spaceship. With players voting after each round on who they think the murderer is, it’s a fun product to sample, particularly with friends. At the time of writing, the game has 530 million downloads in 2022 and 415.5 million monthly active players.
