Just when folks thought “the duchess’ star power [was] waning”, an article comes out detailing her every move.

That kind of gossip is only reserved for major celebs, so you know Meghan still has it.

It is debatable whether she wants it or not, though, with reports about how she enjoys both a lavish and low-key lifestyle.

We’re obliging those that care, but a source recently dished to Closer that the ex-royal has been living the high life in Montecito, California with husband Prince Harry and their two kids, Archie and Lilibet.

Because of her various antics, which make sense for someone in her income and status bracket, the locals have even gone so far as to dub her the “Princess of Montecito”.

Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, the couple has been keeping a relatively low profile.

But according to the insider, “there’s a lot more going on in Meghan’s world than people think, she just keeps it very private these days but her royal status gives her a lot of leverage.”

At least she seems to use that leverage for humanitarian purposes, though, right?

Sources have previously revealed how the actress-turned-humanitarian has been planning for a career move into politics – which seemed even more likely when Meghan revealed last month that she would be heading to Washington after speaking out against the Roe V. Wade ruling, which bans abortion across several US states.

These sources in Closer seem to be grasping at straws trying to justify how Meghan acts like a princess.

They seem to imply that Meghan should remain at home while she works on her podcast, Archetypes, which is set to be released this summer as part of the couple’s £2 million deal with Spotify:

The source says, “Their home is large enough to host most of her business meetings, but sometimes Meghan will secretly book a conference room at the five-star Beverly Hills Hotel, known to locals as The Pink Palace. She’s throwing herself into work on her podcast at the moment, which she can work on from home.”

Okay.

Is it just me, or is the tone suggesting that the Sussexes made their friends too fast a bit OTT, too?

Within weeks of moving to Montecito, the Sussexes wasted no time in building new friendships with the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Serena Williams, James Corden, and their neighbours, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry.

The other gripe the sources seem to have with Meghan, compounded by The News saying that her” ‘Princess’ title is also well-earned”, is that she prefers to call ahead at the restaurants she wants to frequent and “request a table that is completely secluded”.

Sure, Meghan “heads into LA every week or so” and “loves driving around to go to the same hiking trails [with her two dogs] that she used to visit back in the day, well off the beaten track”.

But it is a little much, apparently, that she wants to sit away from the public when she dines at restaurants.

All her friends do the same. They are celebs, after all.
