I can’t be the only person who dreams of a quieter life out yonder, across the lentil curtain, where kale-eating children safely roam the streets.
Half of the appeal, at least for me, is that if you live in Kommetjie you have a great excuse to turn down social engagements in the ‘burbs as well as the Cape Town CBD.
It’s also “lovely”, to quote my friend Basil who is remarkably succinct with his words.
Let’s push the boat out a little given that we know there is a demand for higher-end property in Kommetjie. We featured a R15 million home in the private Klein Slangkop eco-estate last year and that has since been snapped up.
R21,5 million gets you a four-bedroom beach house named Pebbles, after a nearby surf spot. Be sure not to upset the local surfers, though, they can be rather territorial.
Here’s that listing on Property24:
Inspired by the ever-present glistening ocean views and magnificent mountains, architect Frank Bohm created this masterpiece with all the elements in mind and created effortless flow so that the indoors and outdoors become one. The interconnected spaces in this artistically styled home exuberate the joy of elegant simplicity and flawless design.
The ambience of this exceptional home is enhanced by the magnificent structural timber beams, architectural staircase, heart of the home fireplace, sun splashed decks and the impressive use of natural light. This entertainer’s paradise is a dream to enjoy and celebrate life. Salute the day as the sky turns into a kaleidoscope of colors.
I do love the turn of phrases one finds in property listings.
A sweep of the house also revealed not a single ‘Live Laugh Love’ or ‘Life’s a Beach’ sign, which brings me great relief.
Yes, we do have time for a video tour:
Let’s not forget about the fact that the house affords you a view across into Hout Bay, which adds a few million. Long live the leopard, the harbour, beach, and sea.
So ends our property-ogling for the day.
Back to counting the hours until another week is in the bag.
