You’re staring down the barrel of a policeman’s gun as he confronts a pair of armed criminals trying to rob a courier van in Fleurhof, Randburg.

Shortly after that moment on June 30, the robbers started shooting at police officers, inciting a full-blown shootout on the road.

In the video of the incident, you can see how the drama unfolds, starting with the robbers occupying the courier van that they were trying to rob and pushing the startled driver to one side.

Per News24, Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said officers were in the area conducting patrols and had stopped to check on the “suspicious-looking” vehicle:

“As they approached the vehicle, two suspects started shooting at them, and they retaliated,” Sello said.

SAPS officers then instructed the robbers to get out of the van. One of the robbers pulls out his weapon and opens fire.

Luckily, nobody was injured during the brazen shootout:

Sello confirmed that the suspects managed to get away and that no arrests have been made.
