The movie It ruined clowns for an entire generation (Pennywise has returned to do it again), and I think the same can be said for Chucky from Child’s Play ruining dolls.
I will not sleep in a room where either is present. This is non-negotiable.
We’re fortunate to have some of the world’s finest beaches on our doorstep. Freezing water aside, there’s a notable absence of doll parts (and human feet) washed up on South Africa’s beaches.
It’s a very different story in South Texas where, Mashable reports, “dozens of semi-intact dolls, doll heads, and other doll parts wash up on the shore with alarming regularity”.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver was off this past Sunday but the show did release a web-only segment taking a closer look at what’s causing this terrifying occurrence:
“Do we need to break some kind of curse? That would make sense,” [John] rants. “Is there a special volcano we have to throw them into?”
There’s also a complex theory about the ghost of a Victorian child with the Devil in her heart, haunting the waters of the Gulf…
Of course, like any eerie phenomenon in this age of constant information, there’s a helpful scientific explanation for why this keeps happening.
The British host wasn’t going to let the actual explanation stop him from going off on all sorts of weird tangents.
Where’s the fun in that?
