I am unsure which is more newsworthy; the fact that Elon Musk took a small break from his side-hustle, Twitter, or the fact that when he did reemerge, it was to share an odd family shot with the Pope.
Both are pretty rare occurrences, so take your pick.
Either way, when the richest person in the world – yup, Musk is still sitting on top of Forbes’ real-time billionaire tracker – meets the iconic Catholic figure, the world takes note.
Per HollywoodLife, the billionaire returned to Twitter with a snap of himself alongside Pope Francis and four of his seven children, namely his son Griffin (18), and triplets Kai, Damian, and Sax, (15), whom Elon shares with his first wife, Justine Wilson.

Love that he had to @ the Pope and that His Holiness has an account to be @’d in the first place.
There were around 10 days between that post and the Father’s Day tweet (“I love my kids so much”) when we didn’t see or hear Musk chime in on social media – apparently his longest break since October 2017, per The Wall Street Journal.
It was also around that time that the Tesla and SpaceX CEO spawned a lengthy Twitter conversation about cheese – a topic that takes me back to my teen self when random Y2K internet humour was a thing:
What … is your favorite cheese?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 20, 2022
It is also probably a topic that makes his SpaceX employees – especially the ones who penned that open letter to him about his Twitter antics, with some consequently getting fired – a tad unhappy to call him boss.
Back to the Pope-Musk family shot, with one of Elon’s children notably absent:
Griffin also has a twin sibling who was born Xavier. However, one day after Xavier’s 18th birthday on April 18, 2022, Xavier filed to change their name to Vivian Jenna Wilson to reflect their new gender identity as a female.
The documents, obtained by HollywoodLife in June, state that Vivian filed for the change because of “Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
Musk’s other kids, the ones he had with singer Grimes, namely their son X Æ A-Xii, or X for short, and surrogate daughter Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, or Y for short, were also not in the photo.
Keep an eye on Twitter where I’m sure they’ll have their moment – as Musk says, he loves all his kids.
