Beyoncé’s newest song, ‘Break My Soul’, is breaking the internet.
One cannot expect anything less from the Lemonade artist, who is finally gracing us with her vocal presence on an album for the first time in six years.
She teased fans with this “Beyaissance” (a mash-up of her name and her new album’s name, Renaissance) by changing her social media bios to “6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET” hours before the song was released.
While the full album Renaissance has not yet been released, we get a taste of it with the first single from the highly-anticipated musical offering.
‘Break My Soul’ has been released on YouTube as an official lyric video:
Cue TikTok’s new favourite bop.
Complex has the details:
…the track “marks the start of a new season,” and that the single is a “dance song that is intended to mark the start of a new era with new anthems.”
…According to the platform’s credits, the dance song is co-produced by Bey, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream, and features the following hook from Big Freedia:
“Release your anger, release your mind/Release your job, release the time/Release your trade, release the stress/Release the love, forget the rest. Jay-Z also has a writing credit on the song, which samples Robyn’s 1993 pop classic “Show Me Love.”
Renaissance will drop on July 29:
Four box sets are available to pre-order on Beyoncé’s official website here, with a different T-shirt included in each. It also comes with a CD, a 28-page photo booklet, and a mini poster.
Bey’s mom is not the only fan absolutely frothing for this new drop:

Other fans are already going wild, per Elle:
Beyoncé gave us an anti-capitalist, pro-gay summer anthem with vocals, rapping, a choir call and response, and FREEDIA. We really won #BreakMySoul pic.twitter.com/PW65t6W4ZS

Beyoncé saw that it was the summer of late-millennial burnout, the labor movement, ‘90s revival, and queer pride and was like, “Yeah, I can make a song about that”

Bey described the music of Renaissance as “music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul”.
