Anyone who has ever held a golf club for more than a few minutes has felt the urge to launch it in frustration.

There’s a reason golf is known as ‘a good walk spoilt’.

Even the pros aren’t immune to letting their emotions get the better of them, with Grayson Murray’s temper boiling over during yesterday’s fourth round of the US Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Officially ranked 516th in the world, the 28-year-old would have been chuffed to make the cut and started yesterday with a birdie.

His joy was shortlived and on the 7th hole, he carded a triple-bogey, which led to a tomahawk-style hurl of his putter.

Things went from bad to worse and he also triple-bogeyed the 9th. On the 10th, after butchering his approach to the green from a decent lie on the fairway, his wedge met its demise:

Both of those moments are condensed into this video:

He ended up in 63rd spot, carding 80 (+10 on the par-70 course) on Sunday and +18 for the tournament. That’s still good enough for a cheque of $36 852.

Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick claimed his first major victory, nine years after he won the US Amateur title at the same course, taking home $3,15 million and the glory.
