When Mackenzie Scott divorced Amazon megalith, Jeff Bezos, in 2019, she skyrocketed into prominence afresh for being one of the wealthiest women in the world, with a net worth of $46,6 billion, according to Business Insider.
Scott was married to Bezos for twenty-five years and got a fitting 25% of his Amazon shares in the divorce settlement.
But, surprisingly, she’s still not the richest woman in the world.
Here are the rest of the five richest women alive in 2022 – Scott is only number four!
#5: Jacqueline Mars
Jacqueline Mars is an American heiress and the fifth-richest woman in the world, according to Forbes. Jacqueline’s grandfather Frank C. Mars made the family’s out-of-this-world fortune, and his granddaughter alone is worth a staggering $31,7 billion.Their sweet billions are the sum of sales from candy brands like M&M (who knew?) and – a rather weird combination – pet kibble, namely Pedigree dog food.
#3: Julia Koch
Julia Koch is the widow of deceased American conservative David Koch, who passed away in 2019.Koch left his wife such a sizeable inheritance that, as of 2022, Julia Koch is the third-richest woman in the world.
With a net worth of $60 billion at age 6o, Koch and her children combined reportedly own a 42% stake in Koch Industries, which is the second-largest private company in the US.
#2: Alice Walton
Alice Walton looks like everybody’s favourite aunt, but make no mistake – this lady’s net worth makes Paris Hilton look like a pauper. The second richest woman in the world, Alice is the only child of Sam Walton, the founder of the original American superstore, Walmart.
According to Business Insider, Walton is worth a meagre $70,8 billion, so… who knows where she does her grocery shopping? I’m guessing she doesn’t use coupons.
#1. Francoise Bettencourt Meyers
The number one richest woman in the world for the second year running, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers is the French heiress to the L’Oréal fortune, with an astronomical net worth of $74,8 billion. Her mother Liliane Bettencourt passed away in 2018, leaving Francoise Bettencourt Meyers the wealthiest woman alive.
According to Business Insider, the family still owns 33% stock in the flourishing French beauty brand.
Must be nice.
