After a gruelling trial with no punches pulled, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were both found liable for defamation in their lawsuits against each other.
A jury awarded damages to both, although Depp’s $15 million far outweighed Heard’s $2 million.
Depp won’t get that full $15 million, for reasons we have already covered, but there’s no doubting that he is the happier of the former spouses following the ruling in Fairfax, Virginia.
Here I was hoping we could move on from this and focus on something else, but Seth reckons we should have a quick chat about the so-called victory parade and a certain badger.
Before that, let’s take a gander at a video of Depp out and about in the northeast of England shortly before the verdict was handed down:
I’m really glad I’ll never be one of those people screaming ‘I love you’ at celebrities.
Depp has been touring with musician Jeff Beck, which is why he’s in the UK.
Alright, badgers. Let’s head to Metro:
…he took a trip to Folly Wildlife Rescue in Broadwater Forest near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, having been taken there by Beck’s wife, Sandra Cash.
Sharing a picture of the actor on Facebook, the rescue organisation wrote: ‘Guess who’s been to see us at Folly Wildlife Rescue – no, you’re not seeing things – that’s the real Johnny Depp!’
Wow. So brave.
That badger is named Freddie (“as in Mercury” according to the rescue centre) and is one of many orphaned badger cubs they’re hand-rearing.
Beck is a patron of the rescue service so Sandra took Depp along for a visit.
I find it slightly ironic that Depp’s victory parade is taking place in the UK, where you can legally call him a ‘wife beater’.
Oh, I’ve also been instructed to mention that in the midst of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, another celeb has been grabbing headlines.
Everybody, Kim Kardashian and the briefest of nuggets via The Daily Mail:
Despite her best efforts, officials at Buckingham Palace have rejected her pleas to attend the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday.
Representatives for the star, 41 — who landed in the UK with her boyfriend Pete Davidson, 28, this week — asked for tickets But the Palace turned the American couple down, as did publicists at the BBC, which will broadcast the show.
Kim was so determined to attend that a source told the Daily Mail she is trying to acquire tickets by other means — and has even said she doesn’t mind if the tickets are ‘not VIP’.
Oh, the horror!
The inhumanity!
When will the suffering end?
I’ll assume you care as much as I do and end things here.
