Chances are you will have binged the whole of Stranger Things season four by the time this controversial docuseries is released on Netflix.
That’s not me judging you, by the way. The streaming giant’s stats show it’s become the most viewed series in a single week since Squid Game burst onto the scene.
Over the course of three days, a global audience binged a total of 286,8 million hours of the fourth season. See, you’re not alone.
Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey will be released on Netflix on June 8 and is already ruffling feathers.
Viewers will get a closer look at Warren Jeffs, “one of the world’s most dangerous, yet under-talked-about cult leaders”. More via Collider:
Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey will pull the curtain back on the man who picked up the torch from his father, Rulon Jeffs, and continued a horrifying offshoot of the Mormon religion.
Hearing firsthand from the people it affected the most, including members of the cult and women who were forced to marry during their teenage years, a trailer for the upcoming documentary series promises to tell Jeffs’ story as it’s never been told before.
Jeffs is the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is headquartered in Hildale, Utah.
Despite being imprisoned since 2011 on two counts of sexual assault of a child, for which he was sentenced to life in prison, he continues to call the shots from behind bars.
As you can imagine, the church is less than enthused about this upcoming exposé.
The series is directed by Peabody-winning filmmaker Rachel Dretzin.
Jeffs has already been the subject of 2015’s Prophet’s Prey, based on a book of the same name written by Sam Brower.
Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey should, through allowing these victims to tell their own stories, bring plenty of new information to light.
