Rowan Atkinson will forever be known as Mr. Bean.
How about this for a wild fact – the entire Mr. Bean series comprised 15 episodes, the last of which was titled The Best Bits of Mr. Bean and featured footage from the first 14.
Yes, there have been two movies but the character has made a huge cultural impact considering the show ran for a single season.
Does he need to be doing a Netflix series where he battles a bee? Probably not, but he has and that’s why you’re reading this.
The not-so-creatively named Man Vs Bee features Atkinson taking on an unwanted house guest. This via The AV Club:
The famed British comedian stars as Trevor, a man who’s hoping a housesitting job will help him save up enough money to take his family on vacation. However, he winds up landing in court instead of on the beach, charged with “14 counts of dangerous driving, the destruction of priceless artwork, [and] arson.”
Of course, this is all the fault of the titular bee. With only a dog named Cupcake for company in the glamorous mansion he’s charged with taking care of, Trevor finds himself increasingly plagued by the flying insect.
Hilarity is said to ensue in a show the streaming giant promises will “get the whole family buzzing”.
Take it away, Rowan:
The series features nine “short-sized episodes” – no exact length is given – and will start streaming on June 24.
