Perusing the property market usually goes something like this.

Look at properties within my price range (minimal and depressing), before embarking on a flight of fancy and seeing what’s on offer for those with significantly deeper pockets.

Hermanus is a current semigration hotspot and that makes a lot of sense. It’s just far enough away that you’re excused for not visiting Cape Town too often, and the same works in reverse.

If I lived in this six-bedroom, R48,5 million beauty in Voelklip you’d be hard-pressed to get me out and about. Property24 points out that it has “breathtaking sea and mountain views” as well as direct access to Grotto Beach:

I took the video tour below and I have to give that games room an extra shoutout for having a table tennis table. Everybody goes pool table, and I can respect that, but it’s nice to mix things up.

In reality, the bar will most likely be used for topping up your drink and returning to the lookout deck.

There you sit, gazing out over the waves, pondering the meaning of life.

Now there’s just the small matter of getting that R48,5 million together and it’s all yours.
