Anyone accustomed to South Africa’s roads knows to stay out of the way of minibus taxis.
There’s just no point honking and shouting at taxis, which more often than not drive rather recklessly, as they haul a large portion of the populace to and fro.
A job is a job and everyone knows those are hard enough to come by.
When there’s a near-fatal accident, however, you can be excused for losing your cool.
Thank goodness this Rea Vaya bus and minibus taxi driving along the streets of Johannesburg yesterday didn’t have passengers inside as they collided at an intersection.
The taxi, speeding along Marshall Street in Jozi’s city centre, skipped a red light and landed up T-boning the bus travelling on Mirriam Makeba Street on its way to Soweto, IOL reported.

Officers from the Joburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) arrived on the scene almost immediately, helping to disentangle the bus driver from the wrecked vehicle.
Both drivers were apparently injured and rushed to the hospital. No charges have been laid against the daredevil taxi driver yet.
Another one to add to the list of why South Africa has been ranked the most dangerous country in the world to drive in.
