You can bet your bottom dollar that David Bowie’s former superyacht comes with a few splashes of colour.
Nautical neutrals are out and hot pink is in if you’re the Ziggy Stardust of the high seas, or channelling the pop star at least, as the vessel is currently up for grabs.
Fraser yachts are listing the beauty for a cool $5 million (around R80 million).
At 39 metres in length, all the corners of the Benetti yacht exude the late pop-rock star’s impeccable taste, striking a delicious balance between classic Italian style and the kind of glitz and glamour that the legendary musician was known for:
Over to Robb Report:
Built by Benetti back in 1977, the vessel was christened Deneb Star by Bowie but now goes by the name of El Caran. Sporting a sleek, steel displacement hull and a classic Benetti silhouette, the vessel was treated to a meticulous refit in 2020 that saw a fresh paint job and new teak deck installed.
As for the bright interior, revamped by Simona Lamboglia Architecture and Interior Design, there are pop art references and hot-pink accents galore:
The layout allows for six generous staterooms that can collectively sleep up to 12 seafarers, along with five crew cabins that can accommodate seven crew.
The outside areas are also spacious, with a spot for alfresco dining and more than enough sunbeds and lounges ripe for relaxation along the “canoe stern”:
It’s a popular boat, you know:
The superyacht, which is maintained to RINA commercial class, has been offered for charter in the Mediterranean for many summers and attracted many repeat clients.
Take it from Bowie, “I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.”
