We thought the relationship was locked in when Trevor Noah brought his Hollywood darling home for Christmas to meet his friends and family.

Noah and Minka Kelly both shared happy snaps enjoying the Mother City during the holiday season, having been together on and off since 2020.

When they first started dating, a source spoke to the gossip rags about their relationship saying that it was “very serious”.

They broke up for a moment in May 2021 but quickly reconciled again that June, with another source (or the same, who knows?) mentioning on June 7, 2021, that “Trevor and Minka are taking things day by day,” per Elle:

“They’re spending more time together and are both happy. Their feelings for each other never really went away and after taking some space, they realized they missed each other.”

When Minka posted that “Thank you, Mzansi” Instagram shot, the celeb couple seemed to be on steady ground and very official:

But as you may well know, the couple has now parted ways:

A source close to both Kelly and Noah told [PEOPLE] that the couple quietly ended things some time ago. “They have been broken up for a while,” that source said.

A second source added that Kelly is “single” and content. “[She] has the best attitude,” the source said. “She is very happy. She’d rather be single than waste her time with the wrong guy.”

The source may not be referring to Trevor as the “wrong guy”, but it sure looks that way.

It’s hard to know exactly what happened because, during the relationship’s two-year run, both kept their cards close to their chests and didn’t discuss things in public.

That’s fine, though. Their intimate details shouldn’t belong to anyone and everyone.
