It’s a total outrage!
Can you believe Premier Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, Australia, is banning people from growing their own food?
Well, you shouldn’t, and if you took maybe 10 seconds to hit up Google you’d realise that’s a totally bogus story.
Podcast host Joe Rogan must be really, really pressed for time because he couldn’t spare those 10 seconds and chose to run with the fake news on his May 12 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.
Naturally, he found a way to link it to the COVID-19 vaccine, reports The Independent:
He suggested the fake law could have been designed to uncover anti-vaxxers, adding: “They got a good grip on people during the pandemic. They locked everybody down in Australia and they thought ‘You know what? We’re going to stop these motherf***ers from growing their own food.’ ‘Cause that’s how you f***ing smoke out an anti-vaxxer.”
Quoting these imagined people, he said: “You can’t even go to a grocery store anymore and you can’t grow your own food – take that shot, bitch!”
It was at this point that somebody decided now, after ranting and raving about the story, was the time to fact check.
Aaand, nothing. From the 1:30 mark, you can see Rogan slowly realising it’s all bogus as he ‘does his own research’:

Interesting how quickly the chat goes from “that’s gotta be a real thing” to guest Bryan “Hotep Jesus” Sharpe saying, “But even if it’s fake, the fake is usually the warning.”
Look, even if this thing I’ve just trumpeted has no basis in reality, there’s still a reason to be outraged!
In case you’re interested in how this talking point ended up being shared by Rogan (other than the fact that it suits the narrative he loves to push), this Twitter thread does a great job of explaining:
OK. So I’ve got a minute. Why Does Joe Rogan think Australia is trying to make growing your own food illegal? Let’s investigate. https://t.co/zA5NH1qZtq

You’re telling me a Twitter ‘news account’ with no website, run by a British-Zimbabwean who preaches the prosperity gospel, isn’t trustworthy?
I guess we learn something new every day.
