Piers Morgan grabbing headlines is exactly what he’s after so perhaps the guest known only as ‘Jane’ actually did him a favour.

In the build-up to the launch of his new show, Uncensored, Piers compared his ‘free speech crusade’ to Nelson Mandela’s long walk to freedom.

He then appeared to deceptively edit an interview with former US President Donald Trump to make it appear as though the latter had stormed off the set at the end.

Since that big launch and all the kerfuffle, ratings for Rupert Murdoch’s TalkTV channel have plummeted. In addition, Uncensored has seen its audience shrink from just shy of 400 000 to 58 000 in less than three weeks.

Enter ‘Jane’ and a “proper debate” regarding trans rights. Here’s The Independent:

The interviewee was attending a protest in Manchester, alongside trans activist group Trans Rise Up, who were protesting a talk held by Standing For Women at the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst.

While wearing a mask and a black wig to conceal her identity, “Jame” began the interview by, saying: “Hey Piers, it’s good to hear your voice, you know.”

Morgan began the debate with: “I have always supported trans rights to fairness and equality and I mean that sincerely.”

Things quickly took a turn when the activist interrupted the host, saying: “That’s bulls***, bro.”

From there, things became increasingly less amicable and the c-bomb was wheeled out:

“Unfortunately, a complete idiot,” Piers said shortly afterwards.

He has been called far, far worse during the course of his career. To his credit, he’s become pretty good at taking it on the chin and last night was something of a double whammy:
