Henry Arundell, take a bow.
London Irish may have suffered a 19-18 European Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Toulon, but the match will be best remembered for teenager Henry Arundell’s wonder try.
In the 74th minute, with his side trailing by six, Arundell received the ball metres out from his own line and ran the length of the field, leaving a trail of defenders in his wake.
Sadly, Paddy Jackson missed the conversion from the corner.
Let’s put that aside for a moment and enjoy what has all but wrapped up the try of the season award:
For those with a strong anti-France sentiment, here’s the try with English commentary:

It’s a cracker, but it’s not Cheslin Kolbe in the World Cup final memorable.
Today is day 918 of 1 449 as world champions.
London Irish head coach Les Kiss said Arundell’s marvellous effort didn’t come as a total shock to his teammates. Here’s RugbyPass:
Australian Kiss said of Arundell: “He makes people make defensive errors. He is a good lad, a level-headed lad.
“We weren’t surprised when that happened, we know what’s possible with him.
“For Henry, Will Joseph, Tom Pearson, Juan Gonzalez… there’s four young guys who have got a taste of European rugby in one of the toughest cauldrons. That’s great for us and it was great to see Henry do what he did today.”
The 19-year-old is qualified to play for Wales, England, or Scotland.
There may well be some competition to see who can cap him first.
