Every so often, Piers Morgan talks sense.

Sorry, I meant to say not very often.

He remains a click-generating machine for his attacks on the likes of Meghan Markle, and by this stage, he’s clearly well-versed in how to direct maximum attention his way.

(A reminder that Piers is still extremely hurt about being ghosted by Meghan and has been exhibiting extreme ‘snowflake’ tendencies ever since.)

Take for example his recent comments where he compared himself to Nelson Mandela.

Bemoaning his exit from ITV show Good Morning Britain, after he repeatedly criticised the Duchess of Sussex, Piers went for the headline-grabbing quote.

Morgan is back with a show called Uncensored for the launch of TalkTV on 25 April, alongside the likes of Sharon Osbourne and the Sun’s former political editor Tom Newton Dunn.

“I feel like Nelson Mandela when he came out of prison. It’s like the long walk to free speech freedom,” Morgan said ahead of his new gig.

Ah, there it is.

What better way to promote your new show than to talk utter garbage?

The only long walk Piers knows is the one he took after suffering a hissy-fit during the final days of his hosting gig on Good Morning Britain.

Once his comments started grabbing headlines he further stoked the fire with a few pictures of the pair together:

Regarding that show, Uncensored, it’s exactly what you think it is and will air on the Rupert Murdoch-owned TalkTV:

The former tabloid editor said his new show aimed to air a wider spread of opinion – “uncancel those who have been cancelled” and “re-platform those who’ve been de-platformed”.

“You shouldn’t be shamed or vilified or cancelled for having an opinion, unless you genuinely are spewing hateful bigoted stuff,” he said.

Who’s been cancelled, Piers? Joe Rogan is still on Spotify, to cite a recent example of ‘cancel culture’, and you’re getting your own TV show.

Piers went on to add that “cancel culture is as dangerous to society, in its own way, in terms of its attack on free speech and freedom of expression as coronavirus has been.”

According to Worldometer, COVID-19 has officially claimed more than 6,2 million lives. Unfortunately, that website doesn’t have a cancel culture counter.

Piers was sacked as editor of the Daily Mirror in 2004 after being found to have published faked photographs that purported to show British service personnel abusing Iraqi prisoners.

There’s also that whole ‘phone hacking’ scandal, although he denies any knowledge of that occurring during his time at the Mirror.

I’m not sure Madiba would approve.
