There are some things money can’t buy.
Then there are the bizarre and exclusive artefacts and memorabilia at Theatrum Mundi (which translates to ‘World Theatre’), in the Tuscan town of Arezzo, Italy.
At Theatrum Mundi, reports VICE, “an invite-only gallery offering its extravagant but discreet services to millionaires from all over Europe”, 49-year-old Luca Cableri (above) has amassed a very interesting collection:
First, he showed us around the highlights of his collection – Wolverine’s original claws from the X-Men movies, which he tried on with frightening ease; dinosaur fossils, T-Rex teeth, an original Star Wars lightsaber, one of Harry Potter’s wands and an authentic Soviet spacesuit.
To get his hands on rare meteorites, Cableri spent years fostering relationships with collectors in Namibia.
He calls himself a “collector of the impossible” and goes to great lengths to find items that might otherwise never be brought to the market.
You’re going to pay a great deal if you want to take home the motorbike from the iconic 1969 film, Easy Rider.
I believe the crocodile is sold separately.
A single T-Rex tooth can fetch up to €80 000 (around R1,25 million) and a fragment of a Martian meteorite at roughly €1 000 (R16 000) per gram, which is about 20 times what gold sells for.
Cableri says his current primary interest is sourcing American cinema memorabilia like the original costumes from some of Hollywood’s greatest hits.
How about the original prop from Alien?
You’ll recognise a couple of these items, too:
To ensure the authenticity of his film memorabilia, Cableri says he insists on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
