By Monday, we can only hope the world’s terribly short attention span has moved on to something else.
Perhaps we can start talking about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine again, or the war in Yemen, instead of obsessing over every detail of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars?
I’d like to take this moment to give Daniel Radcliffe a virtual pat on the back for his response when asked about The Slap:

I had momentarily forgotten just how awkward the whole thing was. Sheesh.
Who better than BuzzFeed to unpack what it all means?
Jada appears to laugh after Will slaps Chris…
Jada leans forward in a motion that suggests she’s laughing after Will walks away from Chris, who can be seen and heard joking about the slap.
But as Will proceeds to yell at Chris, Jada appears to be just as confused as the rest of the audience, sitting still as she looks directly at the stage.
A very Naas Botha-like analysis of what we have just watched, as in we have gained no further insight.
Another video doing the rounds shows Rock minutes after The Slap, still trying to piece together exactly what the hell just went down:

Whatever you make of the joke he made, you have to feel at least a little sorry for a comedian telling jokes and then getting whacked in front of the watching world.
Smith has since apologised publicly and Rock sort of addressed the elephant in the room during a first stand-up set earlier this week.
