You’re going to be hearing a lot about slaps in the coming days and weeks.

In case you missed it, Will Smith dished out a flattie to Chris Rock’s face onstage at the Oscars and it’s all anybody seems interested in talking about.

The music world, meanwhile, is mourning the loss of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who was found dead in his hotel room in Bogotá, Colombia.

The band announced the 50-year-old’s death shortly before they were due to take the stage at a music festival in Bogotá on Friday night.

The Oscar slap and Taylor Hawkins’ passing meet in the middle with a story about Prince Harry and the late drummer.

Hawkins spoke about the 2014 incident while appearing on The Howard Stern Show last year.

Here’s The Independent:

Joking that it had “p***ed me off, actually”, the drummer said: “We were playing somewhere in England and we’d just flown over and literally had had like two hours sleep and we were doing a show in some ambassador’s back yard or something.

“He walked in, Prince Harry, and he had a bunch of his people around him. He goes, ‘How you doing?’ and I’m like, ‘I can’t wake up, so tired. I gotta play, I can’t wake up.’”

Hawkins then described the royal slapping him around the face with a “bam” noise.

Hawkins went on to say that being slapped in the face by a prince is “OK really” even though “in the moment, I was like, ‘You f***ing slapped me, dude.’”

Perhaps we should just let Taylor tell the story himself.
