James Bond is returning.
But it will be in the form of a reality TV show sort of like The Amazing Race.
I know, not quite what we expected, as we have all been waiting with bated breath since Daniel Craig stepped down as 007 to find out who the next Bond will be.
But alas, we will have to take what we can get.
Having bought MGM Studios, Amazon announced the project inspired by the wild antics of everyone’s favourite superspy, called 007’s Road To A Million.
Although, per Sky News, contestants won’t exactly be screeching around sharp corners in custom-built gadget-ridden sports cars with guns, parachutes, and whatnot at the ready.
There will be a lot of travelling the world, though, as contestants, two a team, try to figure out the clues and obstacles set forth from one iconic Bond film location to the next.
There will also be a large amount of money at stake – a $1,3 million cash prize to be exact, reported Collider.
That’s close to R19 million.
The “gatekeepers” of 007, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, will produce alongside Britain’s 72 Films and MGM Television:
“In addition to conquering physical obstacles, the contestants… must correctly answer questions hidden in different locations around the world to advance to the next challenge,” producers say.
So no martinis on the job then, not shaken or stirred, if you want to give yourself a serious chance of winning.
Not everybody is Bond, after all.
Mark Burnett is also involved in the production, bringing his working experience from Survivor, Shark Tank, and The Voice to 007’s Road To A Million.
Filming is set to take place later this year, with casting accepting applications now.
You’ll just need to be relatively flexible, timewise as well as mentally and physically, and up to the challenge of a lifetime if you’re thinking of submitting.
