Trust our boy Trevor to drop some truth bombs on an already tiring tabloid controversy.
The Daily Show host delivered a rather thoughtful tirade about how more people should be paying attention to the drama between Kim Kardashian, her ex-husband Kanye West, and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson.
But not for the more obvious reasons.
In Tuesday’s 10-minute monologue, per Yahoo! News, Trevor broke down how what started as Kanye’s “romantic” efforts to win Kim back have become more and more “belligerent”, with Ye’s disturbing claymation music video being a serious sore point.
While Trevor is not exactly a massive fan of Kim, he does recognise the seriousness of this situation, one in which, even though she loves the spotlight and celebrity, “there’s also an element of a woman saying to her ex, ‘Please leave me alone.”
Trevor’s own personal experience has informed the dark truth behind what many have probably dismissed as tabloid fodder or marketing stunts:
[When he was a young boy] people would tell his mother she was “overreacting” about the abuse she was facing, Noah said, and it ended with her getting shot in the head by his stepfather.
“I’m not saying Kanye will [do that],” the host made clear. “But as a society, we have to ask ourselves questions. Do we wish to stand by and watch a car crash when we thought we saw it coming? Or do we at least want to say, ‘Slow down, let’s all put our hazards on, because there’s a storm coming and shit might go down.’”
