In Japan, sleeping on the job is somewhat respectable as it shows that you are working hard.
In most other parts of the world, it is a reprimandable offence.
Or in this case, a laughable, jailable offence.
A suspected thief was caught by authorities dozing in the seat of the car that he had been accused of breaking into.
He was having a lekker nap, surrounded by glass from the smashed car window and a bag full of tools used to break into the car.
The alleged break-in was reported to have occurred on Monday morning in Palmview, KwaZulu-Natal, per IOL:
According to a statement by Arrive Alive, the man was attempting to steal valuables inside the car when he seemingly decided on a brief shut eye, which led to his arrest.
KZN VIP Protective Service found the sleepy thief before handing him over to SAPS and posted a comment along with a few pictures on social media:
Of course, nothing gets past Mzansi’s joke brigade, who added their comments on Twitter:
The suspect was apprehended after falling asleep in a car that he broke into & attempted stealing valuables from this morning in Palmview

While folks conversed about the power of muthi and how it might be used in place of car insurance, and others found an opportunity to comment on the similar sorry state of our government, another Twitter user considered a reasonable explanation for the thief’s lapse in judgement:
He wanted to get caught because he knows once he’s behind bars he’ll get 3 meals a day, an education, a bed, blankets, tv and a gym. No need to work for anything. No amount of drugs would allow an addict to commit a crime and get caught LIKE THAT.

Being a nap king is not exactly the kind of thing you want to be known for getting into prison for.
Eish, shame, hey.
