For the first time since 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Ewan McGregor is returning to the Star Wars universe.
He is reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, Obi-Wan in Disney+’s new limited series, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Scottish actor is thrilled to be playing Obi-Wan again, saying in an interview with Forbes last month that the experience is “quite interesting” after the making of the first three films.
McGregor was first seen as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), followed by Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and lastly in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005).
McGregor reckons that the six-episode series, which continues on after Episode III and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader, will really “satisfy Star Wars fans”:
“I think it’s no secret that Hayden Christensen comes back and we got to play scenes together again as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and it was just fantastic to work with him again. I’m not going to give away anything else about the storyline, only I think it’s really going to satisfy Star Wars fans.”

An explanation of what you just watched comes via The Daily Beast:
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the devastating events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, in which Obi-Wan’s mentee and closest friend, Anakin Skywalker (Christensen) goes bad and joins the dark side. The new trailer shows the exiled Jedi Master hiding out on the unforgiving desert planet of Tatooine, watching over a young Luke Skywalker.
But it doesn’t look like Obi-Wan will be able to stay hidden for long; he’s being pursued by a Force-sensitive Imperial Inquisitor played by Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit).
McGregor also said that director Deborah Chow, a Star Wars universe vet who has directed episodes of The Mandalorian, is really great at what she does and has created a fascinating storyline alongside scriptwriter Joby Harold.
You can tune in to Disney+ where Obi-Wan Kenobi will start streaming from May 25.
